Description: Our destination city name is Cartago, best know like the city of Las Brumas, which means mist, because of the fog on the area. The Province of Cartago is also known because The Ruins of the Parochial Temple of Santiago Apostol, best know like the Ruins of Cartago and the Ruins of Ujarras. In this tour we go visit both. First we are going to Cartago Ruins; remember… this is the antique Parochial Temple of Santiago Apostol.

Those are located at the east of La Plaza Mayor of Cartago. Is a Romanesque style of wall and steps. The construction began in the mid XIX century and was interrupted by the earthquake of Santa Monica (May 4, 1910). Actually is a place of great interest to visitors and give much character to the center of the town.

It is also known as the province of La Virgen de Los Angeles, who is La Patrona of the Costa Rican Catholics since 1824. The story begins because an image that was discovers by a teen ager on the mid XVII century. La Virgen de Los Angeles or La Negrita is part of the year in the Cathedral of Cartago and the other part of the year in the Basilica of Cartago, this is the second place that we are going to visit. Something memorable.

Thousands of pilgrims come every year to the religious center in what they call ¨romeria¨ which is a long walk from their houses in grateful or requests for favors. Is a traditional walk since the late XVIII century, and is to translate the image of La Negrita From the cathedral of Cartago to the Basilica of Cartago again.

Our third visit is to the Runes of Ujarras.

Ujarras Ruins is all that remains of the first church built in Costa Rica during the XVII century, and is appreciated as a colonial relic. Are located in the Orosi Valley in Paraiso of Cartago, the church of Ujarras was built for the Immaculate Conception by the Franciscan missionaries between 1575 and 1580 an origin Renaissance style. At the end of the Trip we are going to the Mirador ICE to see all the view of Orosi Valley. Time to have lunch in a Restaurant of the area (lunch is not included).

Recommendations: Walking shoes. Long pants. Camera, binoculars.

Depend of the season: Rain coat, jacket and a hat.

Cost of the tour: 150$ (from 1 to 4 people). Extra person: 15$.
Important: If you want to take drop off to the airport just add $10.00 more.
